As of 15 February 2008 the Taxman has powers which enable him to bug your home and car and intercept your phone calls, letters and emails. So, be careful what you say as walls really do have ears now.
HMRC is yet to announce its own code of conduct in respect of the use of these powers. Is this still a free country? Let’s see what the European Court of Human Rights has to say about it….
